In June while I was traveling, I started reading Dennis Lehane's early work about working-class Boston detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro, this month I finished up. I've probably read the series 6 or 7 times. Good writing needs to be re-read.
The Opposite of Everyone is laced with sharp humor and poignant insight, it is Joshilyn Jackson at her very best.
The Life She Wants by Robyn Carr was an interesting read. I think I'd classify it as women's fiction, but it's not a piece of fluff, it's well written with great characters. The Girls by Emma Kline is a fictionalized account of the Manson Murders. It's a spell-binding debut novel that I highly recommend. |
